Every Love Story Deserves to Be in Full Bloom: Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Weddings This June

June 24, 20265 min readFalling Run Flowers & Design

This Pride Month, we want to say something plainly and from the heart: we are proud and genuinely happy to serve our LGBTQIA+ couples — and we believe every love story deserves flowers as extraordinary as the people it belongs to.

June has always felt like a natural invitation to celebrate — the long light, the warmth, the sense that the world is opening up. For us at Falling Run Flowers & Design, it is also a month that reminds us why we do this work in the first place: to honor love in all of its forms, with all of the beauty and intention it deserves.

This June, we want to say something plainly and from the heart: we are proud and genuinely happy to serve our LGBTQIA+ couples. Not as a statement, not as a policy — but as a truth that runs through everything we do. Every couple who trusts us with their wedding day becomes part of our story, and that includes you.

What Makes LGBTQIA+ Weddings Florally Remarkable

One of the things we love most about working with LGBTQIA+ couples is the creative freedom they often bring to the conversation. There is frequently a willingness to break from convention — to question which traditions feel meaningful and which can be reimagined entirely — and that spirit produces some of the most extraordinary floral work we have ever had the privilege to create.

Where a traditional palette might default to white and blush, we have worked with couples who wanted saturated jewel tones that made the whole room feel like a celebration. Where a single bouquet might once have been the focal point, two brides or two grooms mean two distinct arrangements that speak to two distinct personalities — and the harmony or contrast between them can become a design story all its own. Some couples ask for structural, architectural arrangements that feel bold and modern. Others lean into something deeply romantic and lush, layered with the kind of soft garden blooms that look as though they were gathered at dawn.

The through-line in all of it is the same as every wedding we design: your flowers should feel like you. Not like a category, not like a trend — like the two of you, together.

Two Bouquets, One Story

When we sit down with a couple for a floral consultation, we listen before we suggest. We want to know how you found each other, what you love about where you are celebrating, what colors live in your home, what the day is supposed to feel like when you close your eyes and imagine it perfectly. That is true for every couple we work with, and it is especially true when we are designing for two people who each bring their own aesthetic, their own vision, their own sense of what is beautiful.

Our studio specializes in Modern, Boho, and Romantic floral styles, and we find that these approaches lend themselves particularly well to the range of expressions we see in LGBTQIA+ weddings. A Boho ceremony nestled in the Shenandoah Valley might call for loose, wildflower-inspired arrangements made with locally sourced farm-grown blooms — the kind of design that feels effortless and alive. A modern celebration might ask for clean lines, strong focal flowers, and a palette that is graphic and confident. A deeply romantic garden wedding might want cascading arrangements full of texture and fragrance, petals overlapping petals, lush and unapologetic.

Whatever your vision, our job is to bring it to life with care, with craft, and with blooms that are as fresh and beautiful as the moment they frame.

From Here to Wherever You Are

We are rooted in the Virginia and West Virginia border region, and we love serving couples who are celebrating close to home. But love rarely stays in one place, and neither do we. Our team regularly designs and delivers destination weddings — whether that means a few hours down the road or a celebration much further afield. If you have found the perfect venue somewhere beyond our doorstep, we would love to talk about how we can be there with you.

Every member of our team holds CFD or AIFD certification, and we source locally grown blooms from trusted regional farmers whenever the season allows — because the freshest flowers tell the truest stories. For specialty varieties or out-of-season requests, we work with trusted partners to ensure nothing is ever compromised.

You Belong Here

Falling Run Flowers & Design has been recognized by Southern Bride Magazine with Best Floral Design and Lasting Impressions honors, and we carry that standard into every single consultation, every order, every installation. Our LGBTQIA+ couples deserve that same standard — the same attention, the same creativity, the same genuine investment in making your day as singular and beautiful as the love that brought you to it.

You do not need to translate your vision for us, soften it, or worry whether we will understand it. We are here for all of it, exactly as it is. Your love is worth celebrating fully, beautifully, and without reservation — and we consider it an honor to be the ones who get to do that with flowers.
